Tasting Notes
Appearance
Golden, brilliantly clear with a bright white head. Classic West Coast IPA clarity — no haze, nothing obscuring the warm hop-gold glow. Looks as clean as Colchuck Lake in August.
Aroma
Floral and juicy upfront — sweet peach and honeydew melon leading, juicy citrus stacking behind it. More stone fruit and tropical softness than the resinous pine of the classic West Coast tradition. Complex, inviting, and distinctly modern.
Palate
Smooth and fruit-forward, the malt doing its structural work invisibly. Juicy citrus and sweet peach carry through the middle, honeydew adding a delicate tropical quality on the back half. 60 IBU bitterness building cleanly — firm, West Coast, integrated. So refreshing.
Finish
Dry, citrus-forward, and clean. Stone fruit and melon fade into a crisp hop-bitter close — medium length, resolving completely. Built for the mountain and the taproom equally.
The Verdict
A 2024 World Beer Cup Gold Medal from a Leavenworth, Washington brewery — earned on the strength of a modern West Coast IPA that balances juicy citrus, sweet peach, and honeydew melon with 60 IBU of clean bitterness. Named after one of the most dramatic peaks in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The name and the gold medal both fit.
