Tasting Notes
Appearance
Pale straw, brilliantly clear with fine lively carbonation and a thin white head. Looks clean and inviting in the glass — the sterile filtration at near-freezing delivers the clarity Farmers promises.
Aroma
Clean and subtle — light grain sweetness from the barley and sushi rice combination, with a faint floral and herbal hop note at 12 IBU. The sushi rice adds a soft, slightly sweet quality to the aroma that's gentler and more refined than corn-adjunct lagers. Nothing aggressive, nothing demanding.
Palate
Light-bodied, crisp, and smooth — the sushi rice delivers a slightly rounder mouthfeel than a straight barley light lager, giving Farmers Light a touch more substance than its 99 calories suggest. The clean lager yeast character keeps everything precise and neutral. At 12 IBU the bitterness is minimal — just enough to dry the finish and signal that this is a real beer.
Finish
Short, clean, and refreshing — the sterile filtration doing exactly what it promises. No residual sweetness, no harshness, just a completely clean close that makes the next sip as easy as the California sunshine that grows the rice.
The Verdict
A genuinely farm-to-glass California light lager with an estate-grown sushi rice adjunct that sets it apart from anything macro. Clean, crisp, 99 calories, and authentically rooted in the land that made it. The new favorite light beer for good reason.
