Tasting Notes
Appearance
Pale straw to hazy golden, soft and cloudy from the unfiltered wheat character. Persistent white head. Looks light, refreshing, and unmistakably Belgian before the first sip.
Aroma
Coriander leads with its characteristic spicy-citrus quality. Amarillo amplifies the orange-citrus fruitiness — orange blossom and zest from both the hop and the traditional witbier adjunct working in concert. Light grainy wheat aromatics underneath. Zesty, layered, and inviting.
Palate
Refreshingly crisp and light-bodied, soft from the wheat grain bill. Coriander spice carries through the middle alongside the orange-citrus fruitiness. 12 IBU barely perceptible as structure — this isn't a hop beer, it's a spice and wheat beer. Complex herbal and citrus notes building gently through the sip.
Finish
Dry, tart, and short — the witbier tradition's clean close delivered precisely. Completely refreshing, the most food-friendly finish in the Cal Coast lineup. Resets immediately and makes the next sip automatic.
The Verdict
Cal Coast's witbier is a faithful interpretation of the Belgian tradition with a California twist — Amarillo amplifying the orange fruitiness, coriander delivering the spice, wheat grain and clean fermentation doing the rest.
