A solid effort
Tasting Notes
Appearance
Expect a golden-to-medium-amber pour, clear to lightly hazy, with a solid white head — built more like a West Coast IPA than a hazy.
Aroma
Tropical fruit up front from the Galaxy — passionfruit, mango — layered over brighter citrus and grapefruit from the Cascade, with a faint pine resin note from the Chinook underneath. Genuinely the best of both coasts on the nose.
Palate
Medium body for a 6.3% IPA, with the citrus and tropical fruit carrying through the middle. The 20 IBU number is deceptively low for how much hop character comes through — this is a flavor-and-aroma IPA, not a bittering showcase, which is exactly the "crushable" lane Cal Coast says they're aiming for.
Finish
Clean and dry with a lingering citrus-pine note. No harsh bitterness, no boozy heat despite the 6.3% — dangerously easy to keep drinking.
The Verdict
Cal Coast calls this one "where East Coast meets West Coast," and that's exactly the right way to set expectations. This isn't a one-note resin bomb or a straight hazy juice bomb — it's a hybrid, and the hop bill backs that up: Galaxy bringing the tropical, passionfruit-and-citrus East Coast quality, Cascade contributing classic grapefruit and floral West Coast backbone, and Chinook rounding it out with a touch of pine and earthy spice.
