Tasting Notes
Appearance
Golden, clear with a white head — the long-form field review from a drinker confirms the pour, and it's a clean, classic IPA presentation that doesn't signal the tropical experience ahead. The fruit character is saved entirely for the aroma and palate.
Aroma
Mango arrives immediately — ripe, tropical, and natural rather than candy-artificial. Amarillo's orange blossom and grapefruit quality sits alongside the mango, lifting the whole aroma into something brighter and more citrus-expressive than the mango alone would produce. The Simcoe adds a subtle piney and grassy note underneath.
Palate
Medium-bodied, juicy, and balanced — fruity hops and mild sweet mango notes through the middle, with the Simcoe earthiness and moderate-mild bitterness building on the back half. The 55 IBU is present but restrained, doing its job without announcing itself over the mango and Amarillo fruit. One drinker's "no punch to the face" observation from years of repeat sips confirms this is the consistent experience — the bitterness is there to balance, not to assert.
Finish
Medium length, clean, and grassy-hoppy. The Simcoe pine and grass note lingers alongside a fading mango sweetness, the Amarillo citrus resolving quickly. Quite drinkable as the field review delivers in two words — and drinkable is exactly what this beer is optimized for.
The Verdict
Belching Beaver built an honest, well-executed fruited IPA that does exactly what it says — mango, Amarillo, Simcoe, fruit forward without the punch. Here it comes. Right on schedule.
